HOLIDAYS IN ITALY Breathtaking “on the road” itineraries

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Italy, the preferred destination for tourists

The summer holiday season has finally arrived! This year, 216 million people are expected between June and August, with an increase in visitors, especially foreigners, up by nearly 18% compared to last year.

Between culture and relax

Seaside resorts and art cities remain the preferred destinations for foreign visitors. 2024 sees a significant increase in interest in the cultural and artistic heritage of our country; despite the uncertainty caused by climate variability, seaside destinations and coastal areas are also holding strong. To minimize the environmental impact on tourism, several cities are adopting measures to make holidays more sustainable.

“on the road trips”

to discover our country

Whether by motorbike, camper, or car, the on-the-road trip remains the most versatile and certainly the most fascinating. Having the time to travel at your own pace without mandatory stops, bringing everything you need without the stress of hand luggage, or changing the itinerary suddenly are just some of the aspects that make this type of holiday very appealing. Moreover, Italy offers 8,300 kilometers of coastline with stunning views. The most popular breathtaking landscapes are: the tour of Lake Garda with its 150 km of routes winding through villages and beaches at the foot of the Alps; the Trieste coast, which remains one of the most popular routes, leading riders to discover cliffs and karst rocks. Heading further south and away from the coast, one can discover the architectural beauties of small medieval villages: Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, and Gubbio are just some of the recommended destinations. Continuing south, one returns to the coast for an itinerary of spectacular views over the sea: the Amalfi Coast. Driving along the famous panoramic state road 163, also called the Blue Ribbon, you traverse the most famous 40 km of the peninsula: a succession of small natural inlets, colorful houses, and roads perched above the sea. But the spectacle does not end there: Salento, Basilicata, and Sicily are just some of the many other destinations that Italy offers its visitors. All you have to do is pack your bags, fill up your tank, and set off!
